That RX2 is not stock stem to stern. The wheels are off a newer Mazda 4 cylinder sedan, I believe. I have two RX2s in the family at the moment, both have STEEL wheels which were standard for that year. On both of ours however, we have widened the steel wheels to 7 inches from the stock 5. One of our RX2s is red just like the one you feature, but has a 1985 RX7 12A (Actually the 70 C.I. 1137cc engine is a 12B if it has one distributor, but the name magically changed to 12A on the boat on the way from Japan to the USA. The original 12A in the 72-73 has two distributors. Our red one (in the family since 1984 and repainted in original red)with the RX7 engine is street ported, has a Holley 4 barrel with a header and puts out around 185 HP. The carb is actually a little small or the engine would go more like 210. This car weighs about 2100. The other RX7, in the family since about 1980, is original orange, and has a bridge-ported 13B (1307cc/80 C.I.) engine and puts out roughly 320 HP with a Weber Carb. Both cars are super strong performace wise, but also reliabilty wise. They not only run very fast in a straight line, but have been consistent winners at Autocross.

My old boss use to have one. It only had like 9,000 original miles. At the time, he was trying to sell it for $8000. It needed a few little things to make it mint but well worth the $. When I had to leave the shop for something, I'd take this one out. Very fun cars to drive.
